The computer (or, more commonly, the computer system) has become a part of our everyday lives. It connects us to the world and offers us an increasingly powerful tool for processing data. Most of us have at least one or some computers in our home, and one in each room. Computers may be small pieces of equipment such as laptops or desktop PCs. They can be big things like supercomputers that take over entire companies, or even entire cities. In 2014, IBM was able to connect millions to a single server, which had been down for three days. Some computers have nearly unlimited storage space, allowing you to store any amount of information. A large number of smart phones and tablets have also been developed, providing easy access to news or social media, and many are now being sold. We’ve seen them come from various different sources in the past few years.

The Internet

The development and use of the internet began with the invention of the ARPAnet, which could create email messages using only a browser on a personal PC. However, it wasn’t until 1984 that the first computer network became widely available. That same year, several researchers named Tim Berners-Lee, who invented the World Wide Web, created a web browser on his laboratory computer. Ten years later, he would develop the search engine called "BackRub", and eventually move on to creating the web based on HTML. By 1994, there were dozens of web pages, including those for books, news and other content. By 1995, websites could be viewed by anyone in the world. At this point, people would visit their favorite websites on their own computers at home to get content.

In 1999, there were already 50 million websites in existence. Then in 2000 came Google. Now, you might know this name if something significant happened. If not, Google was created in 1998, but in its early stages, Google didn't have much of a reputation. Nevertheless, at 2005 Google held an online poll and decided to create itself one day in the future. This new company was soon renamed "Google", meaning Googling. Google was designed to provide a platform for people and goods and services related to knowledge. Not only did this occur in the United States, but in the rest of the world, too. Today, Google provides products such as Gmail, Maps, Search Engine, and so much more. Many people wonder what they actually did with all these billions and trillions of users? And the answer, of course, is that they want to have the answers. To make our lives easier, and to make sure that we have everything that we need. People are worried about how they can be sure that they have the best information possible. As soon as the world becomes global, everybody will be looking for answers, and more and more digital data will appear more often.

Facebook

Social networking is not only the most popular form of communication with friends and family, but also one of the most frequent forms of our interactions with the digital world. Facebook was created at Harvard University in 2010. Its founder Mark Zuckerberg made a bet, hoping to build a social network where people could create profiles, post photos, video clips and update your profile in real time. Since then, we are seeing thousands of videos, photographs and short stories being posted every minute, which shows just how much people want to be friends. What is interesting here is that Facebook started out as a university project to gather important conversations, while Google and Instagram have successfully turned traditional media into digital communities. Another interesting fact is the way the Internet allows everyone to share what they want to do with others, no matter what area they live in, they can follow and engage with each other. Being the largest social platform for a while, Facebook offers everyone the chance to interact with other people from anywhere in the world. There are currently around 2,700 websites (many of them dating sites). The main platform of interest for me is called "Facebook Page". Anyone is able to create a page for themselves in order to share pictures, videos, news and much more. You can add likes, comment or repost a picture or video on your page even without uploading another one, which means that nobody is going without.

Twitter

Twitter is Twitter's latest incarnation. It began as a blog platform, but it had a whole new dimension when it entered. Instead of tweeting every day as you used to do before, now you post tweets and reactions and interact with your followers. On the downside, it seems like a bit fake and impersonal, especially when dealing with celebrities of this type. But, people are still quite happy to follow someone else who is interested in their topic, because they just can't seem to resist following somebody who thinks in a certain direction. Also, one of my favorite features of twitter is the ability to tweet directly to a person. I'm personally obsessed with Twitter and I can't imagine living without it. So when Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of Twitter, a lot of people asked him why it had to be named after himself. He said that because he thought that it didn't look good in capital letters. Although it sounds funny, this is the result that everyone is trying to achieve. For two minutes, I have to stop everything and watch the video "Twitter is dead" that Mr. Zuckerberg released. And even though only the U.S. and Japan citizens can see it, it doesn't affect anyone in Europe. Who knows? Maybe soon, it'll happen in China too. Regardless, once Twitter officially comes out, it will probably go up against Facebook and then eventually against YouTube, Snapchat and LinkedIn. As more people join Twitter, more people will find themselves in front of it.
